There was an article that featured a student from our university, because he donated bone marrow at the end of February. Later, we heard that he was awarded for his blood donation record. So I wanted to meet this student who is courageous and so generous to others. His name is Lee Jong-moon, a senior, majoring in Nano Materials Engineering.

CP : When is your first blood-donation? How did you feel at the time?

Lee : Actually, I could not donate my blood when the Red Cross bus held a blood donation campaign in my high school. I was so scared at first. That time, only a friend of mine and I didn't donate. It was embarrassing and I regretted that. After that, I wanted to overcome my fear and I joined an online volunteer club. My first experience of donating blood was when I enrolled to that club.

CP : Then, have you done blood donation regularly? What made you donate blood 56 times?

Lee : No, I have no regular schedules. It makes mc satisfied when I do it. This is why and how I do it.

CP : I think your donations are worthy of praise. By the way, decided to donate bone marrow. I think that is a nerve-wracking thing. How did you decide to do it?

Lee : I heard about bone marrow donations while I donated blood. Finally, in remembrance of my 40th day of donating blood, I pledged to donate bone marrow. Well, it took about a year to decide to do it, but when I heard tat I could do it from doctor, I was not anxious any longer. I did my best to keep my body in good condition like a pregnant woman. I wasn't supposed to eat high fat food or drink alcohol. It was hard, but I felt it was worthwhile.

CP : What changes after coming into the spotlight?

Lee : Bone marrow campaign in Seattle contacted me. I was surprised at the call. I have been very embarrassed after my story became known.

Surprisingly, he frankly said that he is so timid. He even couldn't ride the roller coaster. I can't help being surprised at his bravery for others.
