[Part 1. The Yellow Jackal]

Q1. Please introduce your band, The Yellow Jackal

The band The Yellow Jackal is composed of musicians who were in band clubs at CNU. Our band consists of five members—a vocalist, lead guitarist, bassist, pianist, and drummer. The Yellow Jackal formed last year. There's a funny story about the beginning of our band. At first, this group wasn't a band. We just had dinner together. However, as we met occasionally and practiced some songs for fun, we decided to form a band.

Q2. Could you tell me more about the name of your band?

Our band leader came up with the name The Yellow Jackal. The jackal (in Korean, seungnyangi) is a really cute animal in appearance, but if it shows its fangs, you can see a different side, a different charm. So he named our band The Yellow Jackal because it was to be like a jackal.

Q3. As a band, what is your goal?

Our goal is to cover and c reate music that describes and expresses sensuous feelings. Also, we'd like to perform various music, not being limited to one genre. Regarding our performances, we want to start on a small stage, like street busking, and develop the size of our performances step by step. We are currently in that process.

Q4. Do you have something to say to school bands?

After two years of school band activities at CNU and then this band, I always feel that I am in the middle of my youth. It is fun to listen to great songs together, change song styles to our way, play them, and perform. I'm sure all bands at universities feel the same way as I do. There are times when band members sometimes bump into each other while on another team, but when I look back, it seems they are all good memories. When I reminisce about my college life after 20 years, I will miss this life and the people who are part of it. So I want to practice and perform at every opportunity, doing my best not to have any regrets.

[Part 2. Seo Minseo]

Q1. Why did you start playing the guitar?

I first played the guitar when I was in middle school. At that time, audition programs were popular. I started playing the guitar because I thought the participants in those programs looked cool. By chance, one of my family members was learning how to play the guitar, which looked great. At first, I borrowed his guitar once or twice, but it eventually became my guitar because he gave it to me. I was ecstatic to have a guitar and practiced playing many songs.

Q2. What does your band mean to you?

Our band always seems as interesting and new as my guitar. We've met often for a long time, so when we don’t meet for just a few days, we miss each other. I am happy to be in a band with these members and play the same songs together. Even though all members have different musical preferences, this has no negative effect. For us, being in harmony is the most important factor. So I love my team.

Q3. Tell me about your plans. Is there anything you want to achieve as a guitarist?

I will write and compose songs that contain only my band's style and go higher in terms of guitar-playing technique. I don't want to always be in the same place, just covering other bands' songs. I always want to be a better person than I was yesterday.
