Most people today have worries of one kind or another. Someone tosses and turns all night long due to anxiety and others conceal their real emotions because there is no place to release their pent-up feelings. The artist Shashamiu is holding a private exhibition of her works at the Maju Gallery, offering words of consolation to physically and emotionally exhausted adults and presenting an opportunity for children to extend their imaginations. If you feel like crying and want to be consoled today more than usual, how about seeing the Shashamiu exhibition: An Invention Note of Sking?

The artist Shashamiu writes a heartwarming story about random animals in a forest. She likes to create characters based on the joyful things that make people feel happy in daily life. She has created a lizard, named Sking, who as the main character of this exhibition is an inventor in Soda Desert. Shashamiu touches the hearts of people through Sking’s powerful imagination. He always experiments and invents distinctive but special gadgets at the top of Saguaro Tower. One of the other characters in the desert is a cat named Miu. Miu usually sleeps a lot but is interested in anything fun. A chameleon named Mell is an eloquent speaker and likes to make his friends laugh. Overall, this exhibition focuses on Sking’s unique inventions and his friends in the desert.

You can see this exhibition on the second and first floors of the basement at the Maju Gallery. I suggest looking around the second floor first. The hall on the second floor depicts daytime in the Soda Desert. There is a variety of whimsical inventions Sking invented: a mirror that enables one to look deeply into one’s mind, universe candy that helps to escape from heavy reality, an emotion balloon that accurately conveys the feelings and thoughts going through one’s mind, and a conviction stamp that provides confidence to overcome anxiety. These special inventions heal people and comfort those who feel lonely. Each invention has a simple explanation and usage directions. Additionally, an important feature of this exhibition is participation. Visitors can write and post notes about the moments when they wanted to cry at the Cloud Hat. You can discover different types of joy while reading about others’ experiences.

The first floor of the basement depicts nighttime in the desert, which feels like quite a calm space compared to the second floor. The unlimited imagination of Sking, ideas and sketch notes about inventions, and the embodiment process are displayed in this hall. Moreover, there is a drawing wall that provides an opportunity for visitors to let their imaginations run wild. You can freely present your idea for an invention and sketch it based on your experiences and imagination. Looking at the creative inventions of others and empathizing with them is another strong point of this exhibition. After looking around the whole exhibition, you can receive a coin and insert it into a machine on the first floor to receive some candies, jellies, or a beverage discount coupon!

While viewing and participating in the exhibition, I smiled thanks to the lovely, whimsical inventions. At the same time, however, I was moved by them and felt empathetic. I am sure that the warm phrases in the hall will also heal you and help you to think about yourself deeply again. I recommend this exhibition to anyone who wants to ignite their imagination and feel healed!
