Leyla Ek Junior, Deportment of Korean Languge and Literature

Most Korean students are unfamiliar with foreign students. It is not easy for us to become acquainted with each other. However, here are two students who have golden memories of CNU. CP reporter heard a sad story that a foreign student is scheduled to return to her country soon. Let’ listen to their story!

1. How Did They Meet?
Leyla came to South Korea to study Korean Language and Literature last year. She got to know the “alad”club for students living in a dormitory, and she joined that club last year. She met Yang Hye-un who worked on positive lines in Salad in order to promote Salad for exchange students. They became acquainted by joining in the programs of Salad once a week. For example, going on MT, sightseeing at a zoo, and participating in a field trip.

2. When Were You Thankful for Each Other?
Leyla _ On my birthday, she gave me a cosmetics gift as a surprise present that I really wanted to buy. I was so touched by her because I never thought that I could receive a pleasant gift from a Korean friend. Also, she always treats me kindly.

Hye-un _ I was so pleased to be called “Hye-un”when we encountered in the street. She helped me a lot to act in Salad. She has a cool character, so we could be friends each other quickly.

3. Which Culture Is Amazing to Korea, Your Friend’ Country?
Leyla _ I thought that Korean culture is the same as Turkish culture, but it was really different especially from searching for culture through Internet. She is really amazed by searching curious things through “aver”when I asked Koreans where to go. All Korean people whom she met were very kind. Also, food culture was different. We don’ eat pork in Turkish culture, but there are many meat restaurants in Korea. Besides, I was amazed by the various types of chickens. It was really more delicious than chicken in Turkey.

4. What Do They Want to Do When Leyla Returns to Her Country?
They will connect to each other even though Leyla will go back to her country. Hye-un plans to go to Leyla’ house in Turkey. Leyla wants to introduce the real life of Turkey to her because she could experience the real life in Korea firsthand with Hye-un. They thought that experiencing the country’ real life is better than looking around the famous structures and culture in different countries.

GOOD NEWS
Hye-un and her club members have prepared a surprise party for Leyla. Actually, Leyla didn’ know if a surprise party is prepared until the interview with us. Leyla and Hye-un feel the sorrow of parting with each other throughout the interview. CP reporter hopes that the surprise party could be an opportunity to cherish their memories forever at CNU.
