To ask the questions ‘what GSA is working for fellow stusents’ and ‘how GSA will lead next year’ this, we visited the conference room of the GSA. Even though it’s now winter vacation, they were working.
Jang & Choi : Not specifically, we don’t divide the roles of the president and the vice president of the GSA. We only work as GSA. We think that it is important that we represent the stance of fellow students. We have begun “a signature-seeking campaign against Incorporation of the university,” but some people don’t know about the purpose of it. So we realize that a lack of public recognition and we convert campaign’s direction from ‘promotion’ to ‘announcement.’ We think that the role of GSA is to fellow the wishes of the students.
Jang & Choi : “A dream alone will fail, but a dream together becomes reality.” If you have a dream alone, it is only a dream, but if you share a dream and you can make it come true. We will share a dream with fellow students through communication.
CP : Is there a defining characteristic of this GSA?
Jang & Choi : Not specifically, but we would choose “passion” and “will.” With these qualities and, if we communicate with fellow students, we will be able to lead well in 2011.
CP : What is a primary matter to be dealt with?
Jang & Choi : Most of all, our priority is the “incorporation of the university.” Now, we are pushing ahead with “a signature-seeking campaign against incorporation of CNU.” Next year, we plan to enforce the general voting to survey the position of the students. No less important than the “Incorporation of the CNU” and “a tuition-freeze.” This morning we went to the administration and argued on this matter. Now, the administration is handling the matter unilaterally without discussing it with us. We can’t keep watch over it. If necessary, we will fight squarely.
CP : When can the students receive benefits about matters presented in election promises?
Jang & Choi : We think that promises connected to a college need accurate data to analyze. We request data in connection with everything. The promises that we claim preferentially are part of “a grade abandonment system.” Some students object because of the drop of value. So, after a survey of public opinion, we keep working in it. About “The meal ticket system in the dormitory,” from this vacation onward, ‘weekend meal ticket system’ will be introduced. Already we are finishing dealing with that matter
Jang & Choi : University in Daejeon have similar problems. People are passive. Nowadays we are pushing ahead with “a signature-seeking campaign against incorporation of the CNU.” When we approach students to explain it, students rarely take part in it. Students assume the attitude of an onlooker. We don’t want many things. We want is ‘a warm word’ to helps us. While working, we felt that students also have passion in their hearts. We hope that students express it from their hearts.
Jang & Choi : We will never yield to the administration about any matter. But if we alone stand against administration, we can’t win. So, we will build a connection structure with the faculty and cooperate with the students. We will do everything with passion. Later, we want to be remembered as “the GSA that worked hard.”
Nowadays the GSA is worried about the “incorporation of the university”. If “incorporation of CNU” is performed, ‘the raise of tuition’ is inevitable. The president urges that fellow students to be concerned about this matter and it is time that we put press on the administration together.
