Precious attempts to merge CNU with other universities nearby have failed. This time once again CNU tried to push a merger plan, only to face a strong opposition. CNU Faculty council holds the view that a merger is an important issue required to obtain a common consent across professors, students, and personnel. Students representatives also voiced their concerns over the president's undemocratic and hasty drive. On 20 May, the complete failure of this merger plan was officially announced.
