- EAT, PRAY, LOVE

Liz, the main character in the movie, is an ordinary woman who seeks a stable job and a stable marriage. She thinks that only stability can determine her happiness, and after hearing of her husband's wish to go to graduate school, she ponders the question: Can I be happy? In the end, she chooses to break up with him.
After getting divorced, Liz falls in love with David. But she leaves for Italy in pursuit of happiness. Enjoying her own culture and food in Italy, she suddenly worries about her relationship with David. Deciding to end the relationship, she prepares to travel to India as she had learned about the power of meditation there from David. She wants to relax. After arriving in India, she finds meditating difficult. Richard, who has been there longer, gives her advice on meditation and helps her to adjust to meditation training. She goes to Bali as her last destination. She visits Ketut, whom she met while in Bali before. She travels around Bali with a man named Felipe and finds love again.
The reason why this movie is impressive is that it made me think about myself at this time. The big message in the movie is: 'Don't be afraid of change for a little better tomorrow.' Liz thinks that she has lost herself because of a failed relationship. So she travels to Italy, India, and Bali to heal her inner wounds and find inner peace. Felipe also has psychological scars, but he courageously becomes close to Liz because he is happier with her. But Liz rejects him at first for fear of getting hurt and losing herself again. At the end of the movie, Liz visits Felipe after Ketut tells her to accept change. Then they accept their love for each other.
Though nobody wants to experience repeated setbacks, there is no denying that such experiences can strengthen us. I also value stability in everything. However, sometimes I have to give up that value to become a better person. It is not easy to do right away. We should be concerned about risks when choosing another way. So, I was just content with the present, refusing to challenge myself. After watching this movie, I realized that I must reflect on myself and become open to change.

- ARRIVAL

Linguist Louise and physicistIanare members of a research team that studies the language of aliens, whichthey call Heptapod. They cannot understand it at first. But they persistently study it through language exchange. Finally, Louise realizes that unlike humans, who perceive time as linear, Heptapods perceive the past, present, and future concurrently. In other words, Heptapod is a timeless language. Realizing that fact, Louise begins to change. This movie describes how to communicate with a totally different civilization in detail. However, the highlight of Heptapod is its perception of time. In classic physics, there are two main types of mechanics: Newtonian and Lagrangian mechanics. Newtonian mechanics concerns the theory of cause and effect. This is how we normally think. Lagrangian mechanics, however, concerns the theory of purpose. Fermat’s principle, mentioned by Ian in the movie, is a good example. When light passes through the surface of water, it always takes the path requiring the least amount of time, as if it has the purpose of taking the shortest time possible. To achieve this, light has to know what will happen in the future. This sounds like a difficult concept for us to understand. Conversely, this is easy for Heptapods because they perceive the past, present, and future at the same time. This contrast results from different perceptions of time.
I was surprised because I never thought that Lagrangian mechanics would be used as a subject in a sci-fi story. Furthermore, it made me think about how different perceptions affect someone’s thoughts or behaviors. If you watch this movie, you can understand how much perception affects many things.

- Maye-Tú

Most of the songs that you listen to are likely Korean songs of various genres or pop songs in English, which probably fill your playlists. But the song that I am going to recommend is Maye's Spanish song Tú.
Maye was born in Venezuela in South America and grew up in the United States. She wrote Tú in her native Spanish. When I heard this song, I thought that the album cover suited the song very well. I could feel that it not only expresses the overall atmosphere of Tú well but also the dreamy feeling. Just like the album cover’s woman who floats comfortably on the surface of clear emerald water, the song also has a soft melody that feels like water flowing
for three minutes and twenty-seven seconds. Tú in Spanish means ‘you’, so you can predict that it is a sweet love song, and this theme goes well with the soft melody. This makes you fall in love with the song Tú. Also, I could feel the pureness of thinking of only one person because the title is simply You, giving rise to thoughts of a loved one.
As the song begins, you can feel as if you are floating in clouds, on water, or in the night sky because of the dreamy melody. The lyrics start with, "If my wishes come true, I want to be given infinite time, because I can slowly find out what your secret is." These are also my favorite lyrics because I can feel my heart fluttering, expressing my love for someone in a poetic way. Among the lyrics, direct expressions like, “I want to be with you, my love is you, only you,” or figurative and poetic expressions like “Kisses with loved ones are more beautiful than anything created by God,” drive me to regard the song as a masterpiece. Furthermore, unlike the quick and intense Spanish music that we generally think of and listen to, you can experience mild and rather slow Spanish in Tú. In this regard, one of the biggest charms of this song is that you can feel the greatest pleasure in appreciating Tú, unlike other songs. Besides the lyrics that I have discussed, there are more beautiful and original expressions in the lyrics, so I hope you find them and fall in love with the song. This song has a different vibe depending on the season and day, but when the sun goes down on a summer evening, if you listen to it with your loved one, you will be able to feel the true value of Tú. If you like Maye's song, I strongly recommend that you listen to My Love or Moody. I am sure that you will be gripped by Maye's loveliness.
