Movie

From One Night to Marriage
(Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight)

You may have seen a series of movies which are released every year or within less than 2-3 years. However, the films that I would like to introduce have an 18-year long story about a relationship between an American man (Jesse) and a French woman (Celine). In the first movie, Before Sunrise (1995), two characters start their relationship by having a conversation on a train heading toward Vienna. Spending a day in Vienna, they have to leave for their own destination: Jesse for the U.S. and Celine for Paris. The young couple promises to meet each other at the same train station 6 months later, which is the end of the first episode. In the second one, Before Sunset (2004), Jesse visits Europe for his book tour as a successful author, and Paris is his last spot. While Jesse is being questioned at a bookstore, Celine shows up behind a bookshelf and stares at Jesse as she did 9 years ago. They recognize each other at a glance and go to a cafe to talk some more. Since 1993, Jesse has become a husband and father, and Celine has a beau. Then, the final episode, Before Midnight (2013), came out last year.
Throughout these movies, you can be aware of an invisible bond with the characters by growing up together for 18 years. Besides, these movies are good to practice your English as they are full of dialogue with various expressions.
