Over the summer, I met both a Ghanian Prince from Ghana and Shuhrat from Uzbekistan for an interview on a hot summer day. Although they are from hot countries, the Korean heat wave was something unbearable. Despite the irritating hot weather, they fully engaged themselves in an interview until the very end and I really appreciated it. Now let’s meet two guys who love Korea as much as their own countries. They are going to tell us about their nations and themselves.

The Active Man Who Loves Akosombo in Ghana

Who Am I?

Hi, I am the Prince Selase Badu from the Republic of Ghana in Africa which has wonderful scenery and nice people. I am 23 years old in Korean age and 21 in international age. I came to Korea two and half years ago to learn more about aeronautical technology after graduating in Ghana. Through intense studying, I was able to grasp a good command of Korean language thanks to the CNU International Language Education Center.

What Do I Want to Do in the Future?

As my major is aeronautical technology, I am interested in aviation technology. I will go back to Ghana, my hometown, after graduating university in 2015. I want to establish my own airline company in Ghana by making use of the skills and knowledge that I learned in Korea.

Ghana? Where Is That?

Ghana is a country located in West Africa. It shares a border with their Ivory Coast on the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. Ghana enjoys a hot and humid tropical climate year round with average daily temperatures hovering around 30 Celsius. Most of the country experiences two rainy seasons during the year.

Akosombo, My Hometown

I lived in Akosombo in Ghana famous for the beautiful scenery and good people. This city is located in East Ghana, and it hosts the largest artificial lake in Ghana named Volta Lake. This lake was built by constructing Akosombo Dam. With construction of Volta Lakee, Akosombo became a resort city famous for its beautiful islands and many tourist attractions.
Although it has been a long time since I’ve been home, I always think of home, Akosombo, where my family lives. I miss Akosombo very much, and I will do my best to achieve my plans for Ghana.

The Independent Man that Came to Korea to a Make Dream Come True

Who Am I?
Hi, I am Yakubov Shuhrat who is from Uzbekistan in Central Asia. I am 26 years old in Korean age and 24 years old in international age. I came to Korea after graduating from a foreign languages high school in Uzbekistan. In Uzbekistan, it is possible to skip second grade if you pass the exam. Because of this program I skipped second year courses of middle school and high school and I was able to come to Korea at a young age.

Why I Choose Korea?

As you can see, Korean IT technology enjoys a dominant position in world markets. I came to Korea to learn IT technology. I could not learn what I expected to learn in a technical high. After graduating from a high school, I decided to attend Chungnam National University to study politics and diplomacy. It will be good if I make full use of my language ability, fluency in four languages.

Ultimate Goal in My Life

Although I decided to study politics and diplomacy in Chungnam National University, I changed my major because I had a change of heart. Even if I might realize this way isn’t right for me when I go to the wall on this point, but I have a something specific I want to achieve now. I am going to pursue International Commerce and Trade in graduate school.
International trade in Korea is well developed and takes a lot of part in running a business. Uzbekistan is behind Korea in terms of skills, but there are lots of resources like gold, iron, and uranium. When skills and resources are combined, Uzbekistan can be powerful. I want to go home and work for a large company by utilizing Korean commerce and trade skills.
