"No day, but today," Today is the newest day in our whole lives. We have to love and live as though we are in the middle of parting and despair. This musical has a touching story that examines different aspects or everyone's life. You can see homosexuals, drug addicts, or an AIDS patient in this musical. Interestingly, they show love and passion for one another, it is so exciting to observe them face their struggle. This musical is easily one of the most touching modern rock musicals ever written. Let's find hope in life through the musical Rent! 

 

Life's Ups and Downs

 
    Rent shows how society deals with the homeless and the legions of young people dying of the AIDs epidemic in America. Rent consists of a series of daily life events centering around eight characters for one year. The story starts on Christmas eve.
    New York's East village is a residential area for many poor artists. Roger, Mini, Maureen, Joanne, Angel, Collin, Benny are eight artists who are the focal points in the musical. Centering on the lives of these characters, Rent introduces many different stories at the same time. First, it focuses on the trouble of gay lovers in New York. Then, it deals with drug addicts and victims of the AIDS virus who struggle to find normal lives. <Mini> and <Roger> belong to this category.
    <Tom> and <Angel> are another gay couple. <Angel> dies of AIDS near the climax of the musical. <Maureen> and <Joanne> are the lesbian couple. <Maureen> is a performance artist and Joanne is a successful lawyer. They struggle with having a healthy and monogamous relationship because of their severe class differences. <Mark> is the "normal" character in the musical, a struggling filmmaker who narrated the struggles of his closest friends. He is <Maureen>'s ex-boyfriend and lives with <Roger>. They pursue their dreams. They are poor but happy due to their friendship and love.

    Rent is one of the most famous rock musicals in the world. It was written in 1994 by Jonathan Larson. It is still beloved by people. The audience will be also attracted to the unique combination of rock music and opera music.
    This popular musical was also made into a film. At last, Rent is performed on the Korean version of Rent!

Seasons of Love
    The musical is full of memorable and provocative songs. Many of them will make you fall in love again. The most famous song is "Seasons of Love." The lyrics "Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes" means one year. I am sure you can share variations of emotions. I strongly recommend this musical, and the songs, without reservation.

    Rent is full of joy, sadness, and comedy. Many characters in the musical live with much pain and misfortune, but they find hope and passion in their lives. Like them, just live your lives. Try to find your own passion and get to your feet people!
