Daejeon City Administration will enforce a 'Free Meals Bill' in June. According to the proposal, first and second grade of elementary school children will be provided with free lunch. City administration officials, the education office, and local councils allocated budgets to operate the new system in elementary schools. However, recently the Borough of Daedeok opted out for selective action. Free school lunch is a hotly debated issue ar the moment. What do CNU students think about it? CP interviewed students on the road.

Agreements with Extending Free Lunch to All Students

"If the plan is carried out, all children are abie to have nice meals regardless of their economic ability. I think it is important that the rich and the poor ate treated equally in school. I am all for it."

- Lee Ye-bin, Sophomore
Dept. of Political Science & Diplomacy

"If the proposal is nut universally applied, then those who have fm school meals may be under stress. If recipients are known to someone in the classroom, then they are regarded as the poor. That could lead to psychological trauma."

- Ahn San-eh-bom, Freshmen
Dept. of Chemistry

Disagreements with Extending Free Lunch to All Students

Selective tree school lunch is more desirable. Students from low-income families need to be supported. But, those from wealthy families need not be supported. We had better use that money in other areas to improve and enhance school education."

- Lee Keun-young, Junior
Dept. of English Language & Literature
