◎ CP : Tell me your college life. How was it?

The two key words that I would choose to look back on my first two years of my college are "hectic" and "unrestrained". I mean I hung around the campus doing trivial things and did not have a specific vision and insight into my life. I wasn't then mature enough to concentrate on the studies. But after three years of military service and back to Junior, I got real and braced myself to face the reality and get ready for life after graduation.
I just wanted to stand out as far as English was concerned. Therefore, I continued to develop my interest in English and searched for any chances to improve my English skill. Business English was the 1st priority that I had chosen 10 specialize in, not to mention I got an official certificate issued by the Korean Chamber of Commerce. It was a memorable moment as a senior in 1985 when I won a bronze medal in Nationwide English Proficiency Test for Collegians hosted by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). It wasn't easy to have a chance to speak with native speakers back in mid 1980 as it is now when the majority of Students go abroad for language studies. I was lucky to get close to a professor named Mr. Van Stahle who worked his part time with The Chungdae Post and I was around him a lor intentionally to have as much English dialogue with him as possible.
It has been a dream for most local university students to go up to Metropolitan Seoul to get a job at large companies such as Samsung, Hyundai or LG. I was one of them to pursue the dream and my dream came true as I was accepted into Korean air, one major company of Hanjin Group.
Everyone, I believe, has his or her own merit over other. Some people outdo others in socializing and speech, others may excel in sports, music or languages. I found out earlier what my strong points were and I was pretty receptive in foreign language acquisition. Luckily, my major was English and it helped me further improve my English proficiency. In order to promote the communication, I socialized with many people and even tried to change my personality into "outgoing" and "positive."

◎ CP : What caused you to work to airline-related job?

When I graduated in 1986, it was a critical moment for me. I mulled over which company was the best for me and finally decided that AIRLINE is the area that I could take advantage of my qualifications and qualities to the fullest. I was then optimistic that 1988 Olympic would be a boost to air travel and expected airline industry ti be quite promising and attractive. I was right!!! The company has grown remarkably big in terms of the fleet, the number of destinations and service ti name a few.

◎ CP : What virtue and personality is needed for the job?

TO launch airline, we needs cooperation and harmony. It looks an orchestra. We hire from the talented from various majors related to language, management, and economy as well as aerospace engineering and electric engineering.
Air transport need to assistance and harmony with various sectors. Therefore, first of all we have to fane communicative competence, plus harmony among men. Also, accuracy is required to increase Dispatch Reliability.

◎ CP : What benefit is given to only airline-related person?

Park that Airline employees enjoy is support for free tickets. We can freely use airlines to make an interline agreement as well as on-line section in certain condition. In the past, four member of a family went to a family trip to United States. But there is only three seats. So, I send my family and I went afterward.

◎ CP : What is Airline to you?

For me, fight is 'infinity.' We can go anywhere in the world. After and South America are South America are our markets to develop. Recently there is a deregulation and Low Cost Carriers(LCC) appears. So, Airlines has entered the era of limitless competition.

◎ CP : Please share a piece of advice to CNU.

Broaden your view. Worry more than other students. Sleep less than other people, and then you will be able to over lazy mind self-confidence. Also you have to search your merits and aptitude. Thank you.
