When she was young, Son ji-hwa really liked watching TV. She thought announcers and reporters on TV were so nice. She also used to be praised if she read a book or presented her ideas in classes. These things enabled her to have a dream of becoming a TV announcer. She has never thought about another career. She has made ceaseless efforts to become an announcer. She read as many books as possible, and practiced reading aloud continuously. She thought Jeong Se-jin as her role-model. So she watched video data and imitated Jeong Se-jin.
    When she was a senior, she took an entrance exam for KBS and failed. She had to decide whether she will continue to study more or experience working related announcer. She finally decided to work in the field of broadcasting. So she built her career ac HCN cable TV. After three years, she entered KBS and soon became a woman anchor for the 9 o'clock news slot. She thinks her experience at HCN prepared her for an anchor position for the 9 o'clock news slot.
    She thinks an announcer is a mediator. An announcer is a person delivering other people information. To do that, an announcer has to be well-acquainted with the content of che news, and digest the content well enough to give the impression of "knowing" the news. It is not easy to become a good mediator. She also said an announcer is in an advantageous position to experience the various fields. While a reporter is only engaged in news gathering, an announcer can become DJ or MC if necessary.

The Processes to Become an Announcer

 
    The competition rare is getting higher annually in recruiting announcers. To survive, here are some tips for becoming the most attractive and confident announcers. Please don't be discouraged with appearance and level of education. Most People tend to think that appearance and level of education are very important in becoming an announcer. But that is not always the case, She believes that the most important things are voice, expression, and manner of speaking.People have to be born with them to some degree but innate talent alone is about 60% and the effort is about 40%. If you don't endeavor, you can't do anything. The effort is essential. Do you meet the conditions mentioned above?
    The practical steps of the announcer exam are as follows. First, there is camera test to go through. At this stage, judges will evaluate your expressions, gestures, and tone of voice, to name a few. Next, applicants are supposed to take a written examination consisting of essay test, composition and a brief accounts about a current question. Also, you need high TOEIC and TOPIK scores etc.. In an in-depth interview, judges will evaluate your potential more deeply. If you are prepared and lucky, then you wil be accepted.
    Even after you become an announcer, you always have to make an effort. Unless you do that, you can't be promoted. I am also striving to report news. I keep practicing reading the important part strongly or controlling the reading speed. I want to be a good announcer.  

The Present Tage of Affairs
    From this year, as a DJ of the music program, I will report the news. It is a new job, a new challenge. Now, I am getting to know the new job. In the past, I presented the music program moving on radio. But, this time it is on TV. TV shows demand more time on make-up. And the studio is bigger. On the radio, I can speak more freely, though the room is narrow.

Advice to Undergraduates
    If you dream of becoming a journalist, it is important to be confident. Nowadays, people don't judge you by your educational level alone. Therefore, if you do your best, you can succeed in the press. Probably university days the best period in your life to experience many things. Try to make the most out of your prime times. In school, enjoy yourself to the fullest.
