On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

Do you know Stephen King? Have you ever watched The Green Mile (1999), The Shawshank Redemption (1994), or Misery (1990)? If your answer is yes, they you have already known Stephen King. As an original author of books, which these films are based on, Stephen King is still alive with many best sellers. It is unbelievable that this best seller writer was a would-be author. Please do note that his writings were rejected by many publishers. He did his writing work in the corner of a laundry mat during his part time working session. The first chapter of On Writing, called C.V., includes his short autobiography. This part of the book is fairly valuable to anybody. His basic attitude as a writer and his thoughts are introduced in the second chapter. In the third chapter, he explains how to be creative when writing on blank paper. When he wrote On Writing during the summer of 1999, he was in a fatal traffic accident but he has never stopped writing and finally overcame all the physical treatment. This experience clearly shows the change that writing made in his life. To be frank, I choose On Writing to make my resume more attractive. However, this was just a wish. It is not true that you will have a great skill in writing and become a great writer through reading this book. But I would say that this book would inspire you. Actually, this book did inspire me. That is why I recommend it strongly. This book made me have a dream that someday I will write an article on the newspaper.
