The movie Good Will Hunting―whose behind story resembles that of the movie Rocky starring Sylvester Stallone―made stars of two young actors, Matt Damon and his friend Ben Affleck. Matt Damon wrote the film as a final assignment for a playwriting course when he was studying at Harvard University.

In the movie, unlike the friends Will Hunting (Matt Damon) hangs with, he has a photographic memory and an amazing ability to solve mathematical problems of the highest difficulty. When he solves a complex math problem on a hallway chalkboard by himself, which was an assignment for highly intelligent students, Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan Skarsgard) discovers his talents. He decides to help the misguided youth reach his potential. When Will is arrested for attacking a police officer, Lambeau tracks him down at the last second and makes a deal with the judge: he can stay out of prison as long as he works with Lambeau solving math problems every week and receives therapy. Through Will’s therapy sessions, he re-evaluates his relationships with his best friend Chuckie Sullivan (Ben Affleck) and his girlfriend Skylar, and reflects on himself, facing the significant task of confronting his past and thinking about his future.

My favorite quote is “It’s not your fault.” Therapist Dr. Sean Maguire (Robin Williams) wants to help Will realize that it was not his fault that he was abused by his father. Will knows this at an intellectual level but he does not want to hear it. He wants to stay in his shell protecting himself because it is what he has done his entire life. So that is why he says, "Don't fuck with me,” to make sure he is not being messed with. But each time Dr. Sean says, "It's not your fault," Will finally accepts the message and lowers his defenses, forgiving himself for his past behavior.

This film shows how important love, faith, and trust are. After overcoming his fear of relationships, he finds everything he has been searching for in life. The answers to his problems could not be found in any books, but they could be found in love.
