CNU = FUN

In every major, there are foreign students who study alongside us. They are great friends with warm hearts. This made me long to interview some of them. The students I interviewed are talented enough to read, write, talk, and think in two languages, and undertake all tasks like us at CNU. Because of this, I know that they are different from other international students, so I sat face to face with my two trustworthy, sweet and honest Chinese friends.

Q1. Do you have any interesting stories about your time enrolled at CNU, either good or bad?
Seoljung: I‘ve met lots of friends here at CNU. This is the best thing that has happened here.
Heun: Even though the school is big, the bus is really comfy and there’s everything from restaurants to cafes.

Q2. What would you boast about CNU to your friends? (If there is anything.)
Seoljung: The school is beautiful. I guess I should tell them it’s one of the greatest schools.
Heun: Actually, there isn’t much to boast about.

Q3. What kinds of fantasies did you have about Korea before you came, and what was the reality?
Seoljung: I actually didn’t have any fantasies. But the reality was better than what I imagined!
Heun: I had a fantasy that I would easily meet celebrities. But the reality was… I never saw anyone for two years.

Q4. What do you think about Makdong (Makgeolli Hill)?
Seoljung: I’ve never been to Makdong, but I really want to go there. I am so curious about it.
Heun: Honestly, I really want to experience it.

Q5. How is CNU’s library? Have you ever been there?
Seoljung: Yes, it’s one of the best libraries. But the seats are all occupied during test periods. I wish there were more seats on nights before test for cramming ;)
Heun: When I study there, I feel like I’ve become a real high schooler.

Q6. What do think about Korean drinking culture? What do you think of Sul games and Chimaek?
Seoljung: I don’t drink, but the chicken is great. I love the taste.
Heun: When we drink and play games, it’s easy to make friends.

Q7.  Which club interests you most?
Seoljung: I guess the ‘Baekma’? (smile)(smile)
Heun: I think it’s the ‘Baekma’ too.

Q8. Is there anything you want to say to CNU students?
Seoljung: Let’s be friends. (wink)
Heun: Show an interest in foreign students, too. (smile)

BONUS. How would you describe CNU life in ‘three letters’?
Seoljung , Heun: FUN!

At the end of the interview, I understood several facts about these students. Some foreign students have never experienced Makdong, which they desire to do someday. Also, they are interesting friends with a sharp wit. I felt that they are like us, and I thought about how I could be friends with students like them who had come to Korea as ordinary foreign students. I had a great time understanding them, and becoming friends with them.
