People with creative ideas will dominant!

What is the scope of your creativity? Look at this creativity test; it’s not a nonsense quiz. Don’t think about it too hard. It is an easy and simple question. You can draw the link outside of the dots! Maybe you laughed when you heard the solution, but that’s the answer. That is creativity. If you think differently, you can find a new world which has great value nowadays. These ideas can even have economic value and have huge potential in society. The Creative Era is one way to describe this the times we live in!

Have you heard about the ‘creative economy’?

The paradigm changed in industry and the knowledge economy became a creativity economy that requires innovation and useful ideas. We stand on the threshold of transitions as significant as those that occurred in the start of the internet era, so we have a prime responsibility for charting the transformations of the past and for grasping the major ways interconnecting creativity and the economy. This is a complicated and tough process, but we must do it for the future of industry. Today, such flows have a global tendency; Korea in particular has no resources without manpower. Thus, we need to improve it in order to improve our lives.

Today, creativity is the key to opening the new age. When creative ideas meet capital, they can become new and huge industries. This can solve the unemployment problem, as well as technology department problems, making Korea wealthy. It is a kind of new growth engine, so we need to recognize the importance of the development of this industry. Korean President Geun-hye Park announced a national policy of ‘creative economy’. For this policy, she made specific plans and established some organizations. The plans involve nine applications of industries and four foundation industries. These industries are connected with the integration of technology, big data, robots, and bioenergy, such as the high tech industry. However, this is hard to accept for ordinary people. Thus, the government made organizations that are is easy for ordinary people to understand. The major organization of this creative economy is ‘Dreamenter’.

  Dreamenter and Chungnam National University

Dreamenter is a supporting space in which it cooperates and interacts freely with suggesting ideas. It’s for personal agents who are related to the creativity economy, including preparatory and initial founders. It has 600 autonomous programs and has held about 3,700 meetings and conferences with various foundation market professions. As a result, Dreamenter is a representative space for creativity economy interaction in Korea. It was founded by the government in February, 2014 (Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning). So all its programs and support processes are free. The total number of visitors so far is 75,099; it is an amazing number because at Google Campus in London, the visitor numbers after one year are only 70,500. It means Korean people have a lot of interest in opening new businesses these days.

Dreamenter has a mentoring and consulting service both for people who have an innovative idea and to people who have no plan yet to establish their own company. It also provides the service to engineers and enterprises who only have an idea but no support. Today, most of the establishment are the ‘start up’ forms which start with only the idea and no capital support. To help the ‘start up’ founder, it tries to match the founder with investors such as Angle, Venture Capital, etc. After the foundation, it helps the initial founder continuously with the financial part. Also, it offers meeting rooms. All these programs operate 24 hours a day, all year round. The latest program is called ‘code, head for dreams’. It’s an education program for the youth (elementary school 5~6 grade students). They experience software in daily life, and learn how to make software themselves. It can improve Korean youth’s creativity and logical thinking as well as problem solving ability. It is interesting those that Dramenter act as an educator for future industry.

Chungnam National University has various activities for the creativity economy. Angle Investment Talent Parade is a good example. This event is designed for investment promotion for emerging venture businesses which have technical skills but lack financing ability. For this event, 8 enterprises participate. One of them includes, Chungnam National University students. As a result, they get supporting funds. Furthermore, Chungnam National University has vigorous activities. For example, it also has an Inno Polis Campus. (Inno Polis is compound word, meaning is Daejeon, Korea integrated technology will be realized into innovative value). It educates and supports the young businessman in order to verify and supplement his business plan and fix technological difficulties. This business is based on university technology and social infrastructure.

An example of the creativity economy

What are the specific aspects of the creative economy? Recently, multiple industries got achievements using creative ideas. An outstanding example is ‘Delight Hearing Aid’. This company provides their service at half market price. As a result, they are in fifth place only in their third year. They think that an aging society is a new opportunity to be successful. The next example is ‘Loofen by Lee,’ a waste disposal unit. This machine dries and pulverizes food garbage, so the stink will be gone at our kitchen someday. ‘Ecubelabs’ has a great idea, too. They offer solutions to waste matter disposal. It is a major product which uses a solar energy automatic compression trashcan ‘Clean Cube’ and manages the removal of garbage via ‘Clean Cube Networks’. It solves the city waste problem such as spoiling city appearance and using waste buckets. The mobile game ‘Plant War’ created by ‘Ideaboxgames’ is a famous product of the creative economy, too.

The creative economy is perhaps an unfamiliar term to us. We know the meaning, but it feels disparate area from our daily life. However, we use the products and by-products made from the creative economy every day. It is applied to almost all society. It can create a more comfortable and useful world while enjoying material abundance. If we have spirit for challenge and enough support, we can succeed.

This is the time, the dawn of a new era.

Humans are members of societies, so they recognize the transition of society and try to meet the demands of the times. Now, the society that we live in has changed more quickly than ever. Entrepreneurs must have abilities that are varied and fresh, and they must have an unconventional view for survival. It sounds that they have adapted to survive in the fast changing times, whereas it also mean they can fly higher than before with their wings if they have a creative idea. However, having only personal creativity is difficult to create economic value. They need a kind of sponsor who has great insight and capital. Therefore, the Korean government planned to support entrepreneurs with various policies. One of the major policies is ‘Dreamenter’. It can provide lots of opportunity to people and it is also related with Chungnam National University students. Knock on the door for your achievement. Do not lose out on a great opportunity. You should try harder and harder, and a Korean Silicon Valley can be built that will bring new trends to the world economy.
