The students of the Dance department hold regular performance for free. The performance quality is quite high because students who participate in the performance are the best dancers of each part and class year. Anyone who wants to see it is welcome and the place which holds the performance is Jeongsimhwa International Cultural Center, CNU. The next performance will be held on 25 November at 7:30

1. What Is the Goal of the Regular Performances?
The biggest goal is to motivate students participating in the performance. Students want to show their ability to the audience. Just six dancers of each part are chosen by professors to perform the dance on the stage, so they do their best to get a chance of dancing on the stage. It helps them to improve their dancing. Also, they can make and show interpretative dance. As a dancer, interpretative dance is important and students need to try and develop their own style. Therefore students are interested in the dance more. Third, they can adapt themselves to the stage and improve their ability to real performance. The last is that their parents and acquaintances get to see the students’ performance on stage.

2. What Is the Composition of Performance?
There is modern dance, Korean dance, and ballet. Each part needs six dancers of each year excepting fourth year. There are 18 parts which are performed by solo dancers. Also, three parts have group dance each. The performance is composed of twenty-one dances in total. The quantity of dance part performances is the same, so it is fair and the audience sees all kinds of dance.

3. What Is the Process of Performance?
Once a semester, the professors select the best dancer. The examination procedure is strict and precise. The professors consider techniques, dancers’ body condition, and the quality of works. After a second semester screening procedure is completed, the selected students start to practice and learn more about some sophisticated movements. All of performances are made by students and they take care of condition of stage, a direction of stage lighting and costumes also. The professors help them to create good outcomes.

4. What Do They Want for CNU’s Students?
The dance is not difficult and it is close to you, but many students have a fear that dance is entirely the property of dancers or students majoring in dance. CNU gives various lectures to students about dance like charming ballet, history, and comprehension of dance. Despite CNU’s support, many students don’t take those lectures and think the dance has nothing to do with them. Nowadays, we need to understand dance as part of our cultural lives. CNU’s students should be interested in dance and it is good for you to try dance out as well as to see regular dance performance.
