Peace of the Earth Sarety of the Sea We Are Diver!

In CNU, there is a club that is called CUDA (CNU Diving Association). It is a diving group, which is composed of students who have diving as a hobby and this group is located at 305, in the first student hall. They love diving and most of them are skilled at it. Also, they have diving permits. For this article, Chungdae Post reporter (CP) visited CUDA for more on this story. Let’s listen to their story.

   1. What Is the CUDA?
CUDA has 35 members from the eldest who entered CNU in 2005 to youngest who entered CNU 2014. Their leader is Jinho Kim. He started his undergrad in 2012 and his major is Oceanography & Ocean Environmental Sciences. Their activities are being done regularly. They go to Youngun Swimming Pool for practice every Sunday. Also in Spring and Fall, they go to the near seas because of their tight schedule. However, in Summer and Winter vacation, they go to islands in our country or other countries. It is a very useful experience for them. They can enjoy diving as well as the trip.
In addition, if the group members don’t have their own equipment for diving, CUDA has equipment for them. Anyone who is interested in diving can come and join the group. For those who are novice at diving, seniors who have official diving certificates can serve as instructors. Members can learn about diving more easily and freely than they can learn from other diving groups. It is a very big merit.
CUDA’s members have their own unique characteristics, so conversation topics vary. Whenever they meet, they always have a good time. Besides, they hold a festival, “The Night of CUDA”, once a year. Actually, it is a ceremony where they pray for the year’s safety in diving. During the festival, many seniors come to shape their previous experiences.

   2. How about Diving?
When CP visited their group room, CUDA members were busy and cheerful even though it was early Sunday morning. While they talked about diving, the freshmen’s daily lives, they were ready to go to the swimming pool for practice. CP and a few freshmen received a lecture on the theoretical background of the diving from one senior, and then we went to the swimming pool.
Before we enter the pool, we had to do some things. First, we changed clothes to diving suits and did warm ups. Second, we started to check individual equipment for safety. After we checked
that each piece of equipment was safe, we put on the leads at the waist to balance buoyance with diving suit. Then, we checked all equipment matching with each person. It is important because it relates to one’s life. Last, we wear pins to move and masks to take a breath and go to the pool. Finally, CP came to the pool. But it was a little bit scary because the situation was strange and the depth of the pool was 5m. Soon, CP started enjoying the diving. The reason that CP enjoyed the diving was due to the CUDA members. They helped CP and the freshmen in the pool, and when we felt difficulty or tired, they came to us and checked our equipment and condition. In the water, many people who did scuba diving had a joyful time. They looked happy and free. Some showed their talent and all of the things that are new and amazing to CP. Although CP went to report, it was very exciting and interesting and it was easy to forget one’s worries.

   3. After CP Finished the Covering the Story…
CP thinks CUDA is a great club for the university students. If one comes to the CUDA, he or she can start a wonderful and new hobby, and get certificates with low cost. CP thinks that CUDA will
give you an unforgettable experience in your university lives. Hence, CP recommends CUDA to you.
