Before they decided to run for the student body, they were also common students like us. However, they summoned  their courage and put forth an effort. As a result, they became the student body president and vice-president. Their team’s name is STU-LIKE, meaning students like. From now, they will tell their own story on how they became the student body leaders.

What Is the Reason That You Decided to Run for Student Body President?

President : Woo Sang-hoon (Woo),
Department of Environmental Engineering, 07
Woo: I worked as a member of the department and the college students’ association. When I worked as a college representative, the job of the student body presidents seemed interesting and I wanted to do it. Hence, I proposed to Ki, who was also a college representative that I want to run for student body president with him. Ki accepted and we ran for the election.
Ki: There were three reasons that I accepted his proposal. First, I believed in him. I knew he was a good person to work with, because he never exercised his authority thoughtlessly and he is a great person who is always humble and shows respect to others. Second, I know that it is better to give than to receive. Third, I wanted to experience more things as a student before graduating. Therefore, I  decided in my heart to do this as a fifth-former.

How Was the Election Preparation Process?

Vice-President : Kee sang-hun (Ki),
Department of Applied Biology, 08
Woo: It was very hurried and difficult. Actually, our decision to run was late, and the time that we had to prepare was tight. However, we tried to meet a number of students and listen to their opinion about CNU and the student government. Besides, as we had been chosen to run for the student government, we knew our shortcomings and learned from the other candidates. After the first election was finished, we thought of the ways to fix our campaign for the better.
Ki: We prepared our campaign promises for two purposes. One was wanted by the students and it was substantive. The other was new and different, but needed at CNU. It is hard to balance these two promises, but when students heard our pledges and responded positively, it made me happier than I thought it would to keep our promises.

How About Now?
Woo: We started our terms in office at the beginning of 2014 and have had many busy days. We are trying to fulfill our promise of not needing a budget first. Some of them already did. Also, we are preparing to welcome the new freshmen and let them know of our presence here to communicate to them and ask for their participation at CNU.
Ki: We make an effort to communicate with the students because there are many benefits that can be gathered as CNU students, though many don’t know about them. I think our job is to deliver this information. To do this, we should understand each other a lot more and we need to be friendly, so students can approach us. When lectures begin, we will start to meet students directly and be busier than now.

What Do You Want for CNU Students?
Woo and Ki: At CNU, there are a lot of benefits that they can get. We will help them to know about these things by gaining their attention. Also, because we report our doing on the internet and Facebook every month after like this picture, if you want to know what we’ve done, you can check it. If you have any suggestions, feel free to visit us and we will listen. We are always with you.
